Dominique Lunn
Ask Master Barber and Stylist Dominique Lunn why he does hair and he’ll answer swiftly and simply, “love and passion.”
Those two simple words sum up why as an enlisted interior communications technician Dominique, without prior hairstyle training, gained a reputation for “giving the best cuts on the base.” It was at that time he realized his talent for hairstyling. Fast-forward many years of training and his first styling of row curls and a straw set that was “a hot mess,” and Dominique is now one of the top stylists in the nation. He tours with internationally renowned Master Educator Barry Fletcher and is also the owner of Hair-N-Motion, LLC.
One of five kids growing up in a multicultural neighborhood in Flushing, Queens, NY Dominique saw his path as a hairstylist paved early. “Every since I was young I was a neat freak, from dressing to my bedroom. I just loved making people look good.” That attribute lends to what inspires him today, “I love making the average person look fabulous!”
Dominique has come long way from his little corner in the world called Flushing. Having been in the military for eight years he has lived all over the globe including his favorite vacation spots London and Italy. “Traveling around the world gives me an inspiration for styling I never knew I could have. People and their cultures vary from region to region and I find beauty in all of their worlds.”
As a stylist specializing in hair care and precision cuts, Dominique’s most memorable accomplishments professionally were opening his first salon in Hampton, VA and traveling to London to not vacation but do what he loves to do, hair.
Much of his success can be credited to his likeable personality and his ability to make and maintain key relationships in this highly competitive field. His mentors are Floyd Kenyatti, Barry Fletcher, Keith Cephus, Glynn Jackson and Larry Messenberg. Of his spiritual leader’s Bishop B. Courtney McBath, Dominique says, “I've learn so much from attending his church (Calvary Revival Church, Norfolk, VA) that I can't believe it myself. I went from not knowing who I was to being on the path of finding my purpose and what it is God wants me to do.”
Dominique has been blessed to work with the best in the industry. As
a result he’s learned how to advance and brand his own name in
this industry. His company, Hair-N-Motion, LLC, includes a style team,
a magazine and a hair show production company. Dominique’s hobbies
include hanging out with his 8 year old son, working out, traveling,
attending sporting events and roller skating. His future goals include
advancing in the hair industry, completing his BA in Marketing and working
with those that share in his dreams.
